Zoning Regulations

Solar panels are permitted on all properties by federal law. Solar panels must be mounted on the roof and cannot raise the height of the roof past the zone limits. Solar panels proposed in a historic district must go before the Historic Preservation Commission for a Certificate of Appropriateness (CA) prior to applying for Zoning. You can check below to see if you are in a historic district.

Submit the application along with your property survey and a business check, money order or cashier's check for $20.00 to the Plainfield Building Division.
